Flowers or Donations, What is your preference?

Flowers or Donations, What is your preference? There seems to have been a slow change in the tradition of given or sending flowers to show your respects at a funeral, the popular option now is to giving money to a charity in memory of a loved one. Lilies Funeral Directors have been investigating this trend and are amazed that over the past 12 months, from June 2018 to June 2019, all the families that have asked for donations in leu of flowers have collectively raised over twenty-five thousand pounds – £25,094.35 to be exact. These charities range from larger national charities such as British Heart Foundation or Cancer Research to the smaller local charities like John Taylor Hospice who have seen a massive £4534.40 in…

Comparing Your Local Crematorium Fees

We at Lilies Funeral Directors use a wide range of crematoriums as our two funeral homes are positioned in the middle of 5 local crematoriums. Our Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham Funeral Directors are between Perry Barr, Sandwell, Sutton Coldfield, Streetly and Woodlands Crematoriums, meaning our families get a vast choice of where they would like their loved ones funeral service. A lot of our families didn’t know that different crematoriums have different prices, so we thought we would put together a price comparison table to help: If you have any questions about the crematoriums above, please give a member of our team a call on 0121 321 3446. Kindest Regards

CMA Funeral Report

The CMA – Conduct and Marketing Authority – completed an interim report following a Market Study into the funerals sector 6 months ago. Its initial findings show above inflation price rises for well over a decade in both mainly large corporate funeral companies and crematoria services. The scale of these price rises does not currently appear to be justified by cost increases or quality improvements. Some of it’s finding are; Families spend between £3,000 and £5,000 organising a funeral. Families could save over £1,000 by looking at a range of choices in their local area. However, people organising a funeral are usually distressed and often not in a position to do this – making it easier for some funeral directors to charge higher prices. Prices are…
